| Hey Scott, I saw a picture you took and posted on TN of a dash insert switch... it had a clear focus on the front of the switch, and the rest was blurred, like depth perception. I've seen that a lot, but how do you get that effect? I suppose my camera isn't good enough lol. Edit, heck, I should have known that I'd see that picture posted here as well | |

| OK, low aperture is the key, thanks Scott, I'll look into that on my camera (not that my Corolla is destroyed haha). | |

| speechless.
But another question, you said that I should adjust the aperture.... but should the camera also be in macro mode for the close shots? Or will a low aperture take care of that.

If your camera has a macro mode then that will automatically set the aperture for you, which will typically be very low. The trick is getting the camera to focus in the right place as most point-and-shoot cameras don't have the ability to focus manually. Ideally, manual mode should be used if you've got it as this allows you to control the exact aperture and shutter speed, but if you're new to macro photography then the built-in macro mode should be more than sufficient to begin with

| Yeah, I was looking at the camera today, and in Manual mode, it has the macro. It seemed to be a start... but I couldn't see how to adjust the aperture and shutter speed, so oh well lol. I'll just have to look at your nice pics instead of making my own. | |

Hmm, in true manual mode it shouldn't have any pre-set macro options etc. What make and model is your camera?
