What are you gonna do about the broke bolts in the chassis? That's one of the reasons I gave up on mine.

Seeing you build looks like so much fun, really makes me want to get out to my POS shell and rebuild it. But I can't

Thanks man, the broken bolts are gonna stay where they are haha!! they were just holding on clips, but ive noticed there are unused spare tapped bolt holes on the chassi that i can use if i need them!! and ya, get yer ass outside and work on you're build haha

Also i was advised on the Toyotaowners club forum to either have the power steering hose i made, pressure clamped or to use a power steering hose from a vvti Corolla, otherwise it will pop as soon as i turn the engine. So i'm gonna get the vvti one, hopefully that'l work

Nah, my car is too ripped apart to be worth anything, especially when I have the IS300 LOL.

So instead, I can enjoy watching other people's AE10* builds!

Quick update!!

Today, i just de-greased and cleaned the engine bay again, then lightly sanded it and re-sprayed it black with high temperature paint One coat today, il finish it tomorrow. Ran out of paint!!

Taped off and papered to protect red paint i want to keep.

Felt rain on the way so covered whole bonnet to protect the paper

me too but its getting badly rusted, and the only high temperature red i could get was almost orange and looks shit. can't afford to have it properly re-sprayed. keeping the firewall red and the tops of struts, the rest will be covered by engine bits!

Did you say you had to change one of you're linkages on you're build cause it was too long? which one was it? may as well do that now before the engine goes in

Went to the scrap yard today to get a vvti Corolla power steering hose. There were only 2 cars that had them intact but both still had the engines in and were very awkward to get at (lost a piece of thumb in the process haha) Had a look around and found a couple of Avensis's with hoses that can be used too. They have less piping and a bit more flexible so i went for that instead. Il have to finish getting it out tomorrow as i ran out of time and hadn't all my tools with me. You can also use a camry hose. Theres one out there i had a look at. Their all basically the same with different shapes, so thanks to the lads on the forums for pointing me in the right direction!! :thum:

So anyway, got more paint and finished the engine bay today. I have to admit, it looks sweet. Really clean and looks new everytime i open the bonnet!!

All brackets back in with rad and mounts and paper taken off. Love the matt black and red contrast.

rear brakes form a 1.8 gxi. did you put avensis brakes on the front of yours? how did they turn out?

Wow, that's... different. It looks like charcoal, like it's completely burned out in there from an engine fire.

i have the exhaust manifold done in matt black too and the rocker cover. the heat shield and guard on the manifold is matt red! and the beams engine is naturally red too (red top)

Loads of updates and pics soon. Got my brakes (rear, plus hubs) from a 1.8gxi, brake master cylinder, brake drum, new pipes and connectors, caliper kit, weather shields for rear hubs and 1.8 gxi clutch master cylinder. Updates soon
