Amplifier Ground Empty
PostSubject: Amplifier Ground   Amplifier Ground EmptyFri Sep 21, 2012 7:49 am

Hey all, I've got a New Zealand new AE101 1.6GL sedan. I've had previous attempts at installing an amplifier in my car, yet no matter where I ground it, I always get HUGE amounts of feedback. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to ground/mount my amplifier, taking into consideration that there's barely any room in my boot due to the fact that it's usually filled up with bikes, and would like it to be hidden due to the large amount of dodgy people that live around me! Smile Cheers.

Unfortunately I can't as when my bike is in the boot I also have to put the back seat down Sad the only place I've found that works really well is under the driver/passenger seat. Although from there I get stuck as I'm not sure where to run the ground to. Thinking about running it to the strut tower as it's only like 1m away, but unsure how it would work.

Do you know of any bolts that would be okay to mount it to? I would rather avoid drilling holes in my tunnel Razz. The bolts I've tried to mount it to before have always had plastic insulating them :/

My amp is in the boot and I grounded it to one of the rear suspension strut top-hat bolts, works fine and doesn't get in the way of folding the seats down etc (the sub box does though Razz)

Yeah that's where I was thinking about mounting the ground to, it shouldn't affect the grounding too much coming from under the seat, right? I know it should be as short as possible, but it's only a 4 x 65w RMS amplifier.

I've tried like every single seat bolt and it just gives a ton of feedback, not nice at all!

Are you sure it has a good ground? Did you sand to bare metal? Maybe there's something wrong with your amp, or maybe even the chassis ground.

what kind of noise r u getting? do u have a vid? it could be alternator noise in which case u would need one of these. you can tell if its this as the noise changes to higher pitch when revving the car.

u can buy them from halfords for about £5 as u only need 1.

hope that helps Smile

Sanded back to bare metal each time. It's just the location as I've tried 4 different amps. I know for a fact that it's alternator whine.

then get a suppressor that bolts on to the alternator they are only about £5 from halfords and they just slide onto the alternator bolts so are easy to it.
