| [quote="gold94corolla"]LOL, how could you have an extensive list? You only had one first car haha! hahahahah point to be noticed chris bro i remember my time when i had my hyundai excel, car over here driving is so hard the roads are to narrow and very bad traffic so i got a car that was rough and tough for the road i remember that it was soo crappy but i loved it because it taught me how to drive a ca in bad condiions and taught me some mechanic work too. it was so fun to drive the hand brake didnt work on that thing so always freaked out my friends by pulling the hand brake during driving it always had the heat up problem and the fan belt used to make sqeaking noises and it always showed wrong indications for feul but what ever its problems i loved that car drove it all day had pretty good times on that and for a first car never damaged or hit it any where and the most fun part the engine needed some work and never went upto 90 but still i used to race my friends like theres no tomorrow it was always a challenge for me to go above 100 on that i especially did that while going down hill and also it had exellent road grip.ill always remember my first car. | |

| I was driving when I was like 13 (extremely illegal still), but it was just down back roads with my brother. I have always loved driving, anything, since I was little. My first car is the car I have now, my 93 Corolla. When I first got my full license April 7, 2011 I had the option of buying my brothers 2004 Civic Type R, or getting this Corolla from my parents for waaaaaay cheaper. I know my car needed work, whilst my brothers car was in almost perfect shape, I chose this, cause I love working on cars, and it hurt my student pockets less. Even though I beat the hell out of this car, I love it to death. | |

| Actaully, this is what I learned to drive in before getting my license.... a big old Town&Country! You can probably see it in my pics still lol. Learning to drive in something huge made it great to switch later to the Corolla. | |

| hmm, I guess I first started driving off road (me and my buddy had a little offroad truck) when I was 12-13. Then I started driving on the road in my moms 96 Pontiac Grand am when I was 15-16. Then I got my first car which was a purple 95 Pontiac Grand am, which somebody smashed into my side a year later and totaled. Then I got my white 03 Pontiac Sunfire which I destroyed (and almost myself in the process).
Which brings me up to my newest car, "the AE-101". The only reason I wanted to buy a Corolla is after seeing the abuse my friends 93 corolla would take. He drove that thing like it was a nascar. His gf also drove it around for like a month with NO OIL at all and it never blew. Plus he would manually down shift his automatic trans and ride 2nd right to the red line. I was so amazed by this lol. ....but ironically, the corolla I ended up buying blows its motor 3 months after purchase. | |

| Learnt to drive at age 18 through lessons bought by my parents for a birthday present. I was at college at the time so when the first 10 lessons they bought ran out so did the cash. For me a the time was very expensive. Put driving on the back burner for a while. Then my dad found a cheaper driving tutor who was in fact much better and instilled a good confidence in me and felt rapid progress each lesson. I think he was a one man business. Past second time my driving test. I remember in early December 1995. So Christmas come early. As a first vehicle I wanted a Japanese car as above all they are renown for reliability. My mother had owned 3 Nissans. But my dad was buying the car for me and initially agreed Japs were best. But most Jap cars were group 9 insurance. So he elected for a Ford Escort Wagon 1992 at a cheaper insurance group 5 bracket. That will make things work out cheaper. WRONG. When it arrived it look superb being only being a 4 year old car. It was a very base grade car, no power steering, central locking no nothing. It did have wheels thank god. But back then I didn't care much for luxuries. If anything it was much less to go wrong. Oil leaks everywhere, engine tappet noisy, sometimes the engine turned over but doesn't start (intermittent fault), oil warning lamp illuminates and you hear the engine struggling as oil won't go through to where it's needed, the list of problems was endless. The only thing this escort escorted me to was the garage for repair. And the car came with full service history as well. I even went to a Ford main dealer to have it serviced and checked over. But the faults kept coming left right and centre. Well i got rid of it against the advise of my dad who said that after a few more problems had been ironed out the car would be perfect. But at what cost. I then started looking at cars in auto trader and saw a white Toyota corolla GLI wagon. Never even knew there was a corolla wagon. It for me looked stunning but was then sold. Found another a few months later from a toyota dealer in London. Bought it and loved it. Then found out how import models were much better spec. Haven't looked back since. To boot the insurance was only 150 pounds more expensive than the Ford and nothing ever went wrong. Whether I got a Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda or Nissan I would probally be equally happy with any of those makes. Funny thing is I saw my old escort about 6 or 7 years later. It still looked ok. I do wonder if they had better luck with it and that maybe I should have given it one more chance. But then corolla's are head and shoulders above those things (Escort) and I have no regrets on disposing of the Ford. I had at one time a few pictures of my first car the escort wagon but I think they are long gone. But it looked something like this only mine was light blue. upload images The dark bad old days from my motoring past. I still hate the car even though I no longer own it. It robbed me of a lot of money. I could have bought a Rolls Royce with what I spent trying to keep it going. Well it in the past now. I only have the occasional nightmare about it every now and then. | |

| The escort was never known for its reliability. Toyota is the way to go | |
