to help answer some of your various questions.

That hose goes to the brake booster
Stock fuel pump will work fine
Throttle cable (90-93 Celica w/cruise) Beck Arnley Part#0950634
Stock 7AFE or 4AFE M/T motor mounts from driver side and bracket.  Also rear motor mount bracket only.
need 75w90 gear oil for the tranny.  Fill plug for the manual is located radiator side up high on the side.  It's a big screw plug, the drain is on driver side and much lower.  The plugs are the same.  Fill till it spills (i hate messing with gear oil)

Did you ever get the clutch switch figured out?

yes so according to my friend, since i dont have the connector built in the dash harness. what im gonna end up doing is splicing up either into the brake pedal or the auto gear selector. :\

Please let me know, I already tried wiring directly to the ECU and it was a no go.  It didn't make any difference at all.  But common sense also told me that it's basically a make switch (the button has to be pressed to complete the circuit).  So splicing it in may not have any effect on it.  I also think it should be wired into the ignition some way, but those are my thoughts.  Anyway, hope one of us gets it figured out[/quote]

PostSubject: Re: 4AGE Silver Top swap   4AGE Silver Top swap - Page 2 EmptyThu Jun 25, 2015 6:54 am

I've been watching this topic for a while now and recently decided to start on my swap. Questions...

Did you use manual axles from a 101 or something else?

Have any issues with shift cables reaching?

Mount problems at all?

And I keep reading about clearance issues with the exhaust mani, something about a front mount starter, if i left the starter on the rear mount wouldn't that alleviate the concern?

Any other advice appreciated. Thanks.

well thanks for looking at this!
everything should be the same, meaning if you have an automatic get auto axles, if you have manual get manual axles. after all its the same transmission off the 4afe (1.6) or the 7afe (1.8 ) standard or auto transmish

issues with shifter cables? 1, its hard to take in and out when engine is in... lol but seriously nope, its the same when you go manual, so hopefully you went to the junkyard (/wreckers) to get the cables and floor shifter for cheap, but do i suggest getting is the 2 rubber grommets from the dealer.( i can look up the part number if you like) but since were talking about cables your gonna need to change the throttle cable. since the 4age silvertop never made it to the states and its only made for right hand drive the throttle cable to the itb is too short, you have 3 options tho, 1.) either go to a shop that can specialize making a custom throttle cable. 2.) go back to the junkyard and find a 6th gen celica with a 5sge and get the throttle cable off that (which this is what i did through researching, going through forums, going through the headachs and such to find out what throttle cable can be best suited for this ordeal.) 3.) if your baller just go to a dealer and tell them you want a throttle cable from a 6 gen celica 5s. LOL i did remember that paseo or tercel throttle cables will work. but i never tried it but if you come out and tried it limmie know here but otherwise i went with option 2 so i suggest doing the same.

mounts? its direct bolt-on same as 4afe or 7afe mounts.....except the rear engine mount bracket.... i went yolo and cut off part of the bracket but still works fine after a year of driving with the 4age. im assuming that your going from auto to manual so trans bracket and mount are different from manual so do get a manual mount and bracket for the trans. every thing should be the same.

the last question tho... you lost me. but from what i can understand is that you read somewhere that there is some clearance issues with the exhaust manifold and the starter? well GOOD NEWS! (not in a sarcastic way btw)
the starter is actually behind the motor, underneath the itbs. so in other words, your safe! if you have questions limmie know here! good luck with your 4age swap!

Thanks for getting back to me man. I'm glad to see some of your answers to those questions.

Lol your third answer to the shift cable, I'm too blue collar to be ballin. But I will be on the search for a Celica now. The Corolla I found for manual parts was the first one in the yard all year.

The two rubber grommets? I pulled the complete assembly (with an engine in the way, very aggravating) at the junkyard to minimize loss of needed pieces, so are we talking about the bushings on the end of the cables? If you have that P/N please do share.

Do you have any photos of this #YOLO decision on the mount? I too will likely go this route to save some money lol.

And sorry for the confusion on that last question, but you answered what I was awkwardly asking. Your answer solidified my thoughts on the situation..thanks.

Now lets add a question. Did you need to get a different downpipe to mount exhaust to 4AGE manifold? I watched your video with open exhaust but didn't figure you planned to leave it like that.

I posted lengthy intro yesterday, lots of pictures, that will give you an idea of what the build originated from.....here

Again, thanks

well to start off from the rubber grommets
4AGE Silver Top swap - Page 2 15711010

what im looking at is what is at the top of the pic the group number is 33574A and B (which is the metal retainer bracket for the grommet highlighted in blue.) 33821A and B, (which is the rubber grommet highlighted in red) other wise the part number is 90480-01398 and 90480-01400 for the grommets, the retainers are 33574-12060 and 33574-12080. but if you dont believe me you can go to toyodiy.com to look up the part number

yolo bracket i can get a pic but its gonna take me a while since im busy during the day.

the manifold well, i got this flange first http://www.matrixgarage.com/products/20v-downpipe-flange-mild-steeli then went to an exhaust shop to get it done. i should do a video of how it sounds now but like i said it will take me time since im busy during the day
but i will do this sometime today soon so i will get you a youtube video how it sounds now and a pic of th yolo bracket

Oh yea man those looked rough when I took them out so thanks for the advice. Will get those from my local dealer.

Looking forward to the pictures and video man. And I completely understand the busy schedule, I work 11 hours a day and am replying on my phone currently.

Sounds pretty good.

I got my ST partially installed this weekend. Unsure if I'm just not pushing the motor back far enough or what, but i can't seem to reach the rear mount (firewall). Suggestions? Is this the one you had to "yolo"?

And I found a cut section of my harness near the alternator (4 wires), do you have a picture of where these go or an idea what it is for?

I have other harness questions but will try to figure them out first. can't afford to have a harness built so I am going to have to build my own.
